Day 8 and 9, 28th June, 2003

We took a rest today from the theme parks and took Liam to a playground on the beach at Southport that we had passed every day on our journeys. It was a great park with lots of playground equipment as well as these monorail bikes. The bikes were great but you needed to be pretty fit just to get in one continuous lap.

Another great ride was the train that took you around the whole playground area for a gold coin donation. This was an excellent idea. There were lots of families there and Liam had a lot of fun running around and mixing with the other kids. Liam enjoyed the sailboard swing, the merry go round and the flying fox. He also took a lot of pleasure playing on the boat and the slides.

As with other days, we finished off with a spa and a swim. A short walk along the Surfers Paradise boardwalk, where Rosie picked up a voucher for a free Sundae at Old MacDonalds.

Tonight we are just going to do a bit of packing up and settle down for a quiet night before the drive back to Brisbane tomorrow to catch the plane to Rockhampton.

Day 9

A quiet day today with a drive up to Brisbane and then a flight to Rockhampton. The airport was really busy and we ended up being a bit rushed at the check in but no real problems. We hopped on our little Dash 8 prop plane and had a pleasant flight. We were picked up by the courtesy bus and half an hour later we were at the resort. The room is nice and Liam can run out the door onto a large grassed area. We have good access to the pool and the beach and Rosie is looking forward to her golf game tomorrow.

The first we did when we arrived was book Liam into morning day care and book our golf game. Liam is looking forward to kindy and his parents are really disappointed that they won't have him with us for 4 hours. We went out to one of the restaurants tonight since we don't have any food yet. Hopefully Rosie will be able to go into Yeppoon tomorrow afternoon and get some food for the week, while Liam and I go swimming. The mobile doesn't work here so we will rely on Dad contacting us directly through the room phone.
