Our holiday started on Friday evening when we left Mum and Dad in charge of the business and happily drove out of Margaret River to stay with Kim and Karen in Mandurah. Although we hadn't really gone anywhere, Liam felt happy that we had started our holiday and that is all that matters. Saturday was a big day which started out with a drive to the airport and then catching our plane to Brisbane. All went well and Liam loved the flight. He enjoyed looking out the window for the first three minutes and then closed it and didn't look again. He travelled well, which was pleasant for us. The only problem was when he left it a bit late to tell us he needed to have a wee and we had to queue up for a while. He made such a fuss in the queue that the people in front of us let us through and we made it just in time. |
The flight went quickly and we had no problems getting our car and driving down the Surfers Paradise to our accommodation at Trickett Gardens. The hotel is well located, just one street back from the beach and easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Bruce was woken early on Sunday morning (4am WST) by Liam so he went for a walk around to see the area and pick up a paper and some milk. Later I went to Woolworths around the corner and picked up groceries for the week and we are now well set up. On our first day here we thought we would immediately do something that we do at home, so we went to Sea World. |

Liam was thrilled from the time he walked in and we immediately took a ride on the gondola across the park to see what was there. After that we took the Bermuda Triangle ride, which was a boat ride through a volcano. Liam found the ride a bit scary since it was so noisy. We then went on the dragon boat ride and Liam absolutely loved it. We ended up going back to this ride on two other occassions. After this we went to a few tamer rides in Cartoon Park and Rosie took Liam on the helicopter ride, the plane ride and then Bruce took him on the truck ride. |
We also went to see the skiing show (Liam found this boring), the Sea Lion show which we all found good and then the Dolphin show (but Liam was getting tired by this time). Dropped into the 3D Pirates show which was excellent, but Liam kept taking off his glasses when things came out at him. To finish off the visit we took the monorail around the park and then left. All up a great day. |

When we go home Liam stated matter of factly that he felt like taking a spa bath so we had to put on our bathers and go down to the heated spa. It was one of his better ideas for the day and Dad and son both had an enjoyable and relaxing time. Tomorrow we will most probably take a rest and see what is around the hotel. A swim in the pool and a walk on the beach seem like a good plan. Hope every one is enjoying themselves back home. |
