Charles Johnson’s 70th Birthday

It is always nice when our members wish to celebrate milestone birthdays with us and this week we had the pleasure of celebrating, our club Secretary, Charles Johnson’s, 70th. The weather was great and we had 38 participants, which was also good to see after all the wet weather leading up to this week.

Peter Nichols being given his prize by Charles

Charles sponsored the event so this meant we were able to put novelties on all holes and have a sausage sizzle after the game. We were also lucky that Greg Byrne donated the above framed image as a prize.

James Paxton brought along his guitar so that we would all be able to sing in key.

Bob W was second and won the OBE

The veterans are a great bunch, always willing to volunteer to help out. Our cooks today were Jim, Cliff and Richard with help from Ross and Kenny. After the game we also had Terry B help with the cleanup and washing. Thank you to all these people, you helped make the day run smoothly.

As can be seen in the photos, everyone loves a good feed and we were all a very happy group.

Sponsorship doesn’t cost that much for veteran’s and all money given usually goes towards the food and extra prizes. We don’t usually increase the value of our main prizes since our aim is to be as inclusive as possible, we want everyone to be a winner on the day.
