The Ray Atcheson Shield is a knock out match play style competition held over several months leading up the Xmas Function. It was started by Ray in 2014. Ray’s family continue to sponsor this event.

He served on committee for 17 years and has been President, Vice-President, Vice-Captain as well as President and Vice-President of the South West District Golf Association. Ray was awarded Life Membership in 1982. He continued to be an active member of the Veteran’s until his death in 2022

Scoring Rules for Atcheson Shield
This is a nine hole match play style competition. The winner of each hole is the player who gets the most stableford points on the hole. If neither player scores points then the hole is halved. In the event of players being all square at the end of nine holes, they continue to play sudden death holes (on the same 9), still based on the number of stableford points the player would have got on that hole. You are advised not to concede holes, since the other person may not score any points either.
