Our Christmas lunch was held on Tuesday, December 10th and we had a great field of 34. This is also our AGM where we give out the annual awards
After the presentation, 37 of us went on to Lunch, which was again catered by Saul Atkinson of Margaret River Catering. Saul put on a great lunch and we really appreciate his support of this event.
Captain’s Report
We had a very successful season with several new members joining us.
We averaged 26 players per week, 3 more than previous years. Our largest field was 37. One of our more enjoyable days was Melbourne Cup Day (sponsored by Jim Watson as part of his birthday celebration each year and MR Refund)
I would like to thank Merv as VC and Jim Watson, Richard Verboon and Jon Bowden as match committee for their able assistance throughout the year. We have the most organised match committee of any of the club competitions. I would also like to thank Dave Benson for his tremendous support every BBQ.
You may be pleased to know that no-one organised a coup to take over next year so I will remain as Captain and Merv and the match committee will stay on.
Presentations
1. Veteran’s Champion – Third with Rob Hearn with 71 Nett, Second on a countback was Kenny Wapshaw with 70 and the winner this year David Glasson with Nett 70. Present with shield and $25 voucher.
2. Eclectic Winner – third was Jon Bowden, nett 58. Second was Jim Watson with a nett of 57.95. The winner was Cliff Spencer who had a nett of 57.7. Present with a certificate and $25 bar voucher
3. Ray Atcheson Shield – The winner this year was Cliff Spencer, beating Bill Taplin in the final. Thank Ray Atcheson’s family for continuing their support of the event. Present Cliff with Shield and $70 voucher, $30 voucher for Bill Taplin
4. Kiwi Trophy – Sponsored by Rob Hearn and Charles Johnson – second year for this trophy
Tied for second were Norm Williamson and Bruce Darby with 53 points
Winner was Terry Halsall with 54 points
5. Today’s winners were Kaye Verboon with 23 points, then Bruce Darby with 21 points and Peter Nichols with 20 points.
