Veteran’s Xmas function, December 13th

It has been an eventful year and as a culmination of our calendar, we held our Xmas lunch. With a few members on Grand-dad duties, our numbers were not as large as usual but the weather was perfect and Saul produced a great lunch, so I hope everyone enjoyed the occasion.

We played the Red Course on the bottom nine which was a lot of fun. Gary Jones visited us, he is over from England and will be playing for the next couple of months. Bill Hilbert made his Xmas appearance and Peter Shack also made a visit and was able to collect his winnings from the Melbourne Cup day. It was also good to see Carl Wheeler make a return, he promises to play more, but time will tell.

Richard Verboon had a great day, shooting 38 off the stick to win with 21 points. Dave Benson played one of the best games I have seen him play in recent times and came second with 20 points (again winning the OBE). Matt O’Farrell pipped Joh Wholagan in a count back for third with 19. Dave Glasson and Bruce Darby both had a respectable 18 points.

Novelties were won by Dave Glasson (2), Peter Shack, Bruce, Phil McCann, Gary Jones and Alan Dale. Carl won the chocolate with 10. We ran two wheels and they were won by Peter Shack and Carl.

This is also the day that we have our AGM, you can read the Captains Report if you are bored.

For those who don’t know, Ross Frazer is a keen Mountain Bike rider and loves the trails in the pine forrest. Unfortunately, like a lot of us, he thought his ability was better than it was and he had a severe crash on one of the more difficult runs. He doesn’t remember much about it except waking up in Busselton hospital.

They let him out after a couple of days. Four crushed vertebrae, broken collar bone and a few broken ribs. No problems.

If you can help with the Red Bin collection on the course while Ross is out of action, please contact Bruce to go on the Roster.
