Veteran’s AGM and Presentation Day – Xmas Lunch
Date: Tuesday, 16th December
Captain’s Report
We had a very successful season with several new members joining us.
We averaged 31 players per week, 5 more than last year and 8 more than previous years.
Our largest field was 42 for Dave Benson’s memorial game.
The Melbourne Cup Day, sponsored by Jim Watson as part of his birthday celebration each year was a good success, even though they cored the greens the week before.
I would like to thank Merv as VC and Jim Watson, Richard Verboon and Jon Bowden as match committee for their able assistance throughout the year. We have the most organised match committee of any of the club competitions. Even with all these helpers, we still have periods where no-one is available so I am pleased to announce that Cliff Spencer is going to, reluctantly, help us this coming year.
If anyone else would like to help, or take over, please talk to me anytime.

Special thanks for today’s event go to Mel for making some beautiful salads and being of great help in preparation. Laurie B for coming in and helping in the kitchen in preparation for our lunch. Phil for donating money for the mince pies and ice cream. Bill and Kenny for a great job getting the BBQ done, under extreme difficulties. Kaye and Rosie for helping with the clean up after the event.
Through the $5 wheel spin and the couple of $1 wheel spins, we raised $187 which went a long way to paying for our lunch. This was the first time we did a less formal Xmas lunch and it appeared to be very successful. Next year we will most probably do the same concept again.
