2023 Christmas Lunch

Our final major event of the season is our Christmas Lunch, which this year was held on Tuesday, December 5th. We ended up with a good turn out of 32 people and it was nice to several partners joining in and enjoying the camaraderie.

Bruce Darby was presented with the Kiwi Trophy, a new competition sponsored by Rob Hearn and Charles Johnson. Ken Miles won the eclectic and was presented with a framed photo of himself posing on the back of the trailer, during the work party one Tuesday.

Captain’s Report

We had another successful season with a few new members joining us.

We averaged 23 players per week. Our largest field was 34 on Melbourne Cup Day (sponsored by Jim Watson as part of his birthday celebration each year)

I would like to thank Merv and Jim Watson for their able assistance throughout the year as well as Gary Masters and Dave Benson who stepped in to help when it was needed.

You will be pleased to know that no-one organised a coup to take over next year so
Bruce Darby will remain as Captain and Merv McKillop will stay as Vice Captain. We have also enlisted Richard Verboon and Jon Bowden to be trained up in using the computer and to assist on a regular basis. Along with Jim Watson, this should be able to cover the many holidays we all take.
