CVGA Game Day Procedures

Organise a ride, if you want to, with some of the other competitors. A group usually meets at Cowaramup, next to the tennis courts and then depart from there. If you are sharing a ride, the usual idea is that you pay the driver somewhere between $20 – $30 depending on the distance and number of people in the car.

If you are sharing a golf cart with someone, obviously you go halves in the hire cost, or you offer to pay $10-15 to the owner of the cart.

Plan to arrive at the golf venue by 8:30am. This may mean leaving Margaret River at 7am or earlier.

Every game is a random draw, shotgun start. You cannot request to play with someone, unless you are sharing a cart with them.

Registration for the game takes place inside (or sometimes outside) the clubhouse. You will need cash.

There is always a Raffle set up and most people put in about $5 into the raffles.

Everyone from our club, playing on the day, is expected to put $2 into the purse (held by the previous winner) for our club prize. The best player on the day, from our club, wins the purse and will then be responsible for collecting the money at the next game.

Tea, coffee and some morning tea will be available in the clubhouse before the game (if you arrive on time).

Announcement are usually made just after 9am, where they will talk about local rules.

The game starts around 9:30am

During the game, you may get soup or a sausage as you pass the clubhouse.

After the Game

When you come in, you are expected to sit with your playing partners. All tables will have a number on them representing the tee that you hit off.

Find your table and sit with your playing partners.

The bar will get very crowded so order your drinks quickly if you can. Since most people have to drive home, you often only buy a drink for your marker or just buy your own drink. Don’t feel pressured to get into a round.

Every player will be given something to eat after the game, it is usually a hot beef roll or a hamburger. It will be obvious when these are ready, since a huge queue will appear near the serving area.

Presentations will take place as soon as possible, the aim for all clubs is to start presentations by 3pm.
