We had an Open Day today for all members of the club to come and join us for a game of golf and a bit of lunch before the big race. I was happy with the turn out of 40 players and a special thank you goes to Jim Watson who sponsored this event for the third year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course obviously is playing well at the moment with 12 players getting 18 points for more. Cliff Spencer showed a continuation of his good form from Sunday (where he won the Retravision Classic) scoring 22 points to win again. Rosie Burnett appreciated playing on the course with the veterans on a Tuesday, instead of working with them in the afternoon, coming second on 20 points, in a count back from Cathy Carroll and Ian Colmer. David Benson won the OBE with 16 points. Special mention for Brendan Evans, our manager, who scored 19 points to win a golf ball, his first ever golf prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had novelties on every hole and these were won by Kerry Farrelly (2), Keith McKellow (new International Member), David Benson, Mark Bonette, Bruce Darby (2), Merv McKillop and Matt Wheeler. The chocolate was won by Ken Miles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had two wheels and they were won by Joan Ross and Kenny Wapshaw. We also had six $2 sweeps and three $5 sweeps<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the game we had a typical Veterans lunch of Hamburgers, Chicken Kebabs and a vast variety of salads (thanks to Rosie Burnett). Special thanks to Nigel for doing all the cooking for us while we were out enjoying ourselves on the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hopefully next year it will get bigger and better with a broader representation of the members getting a chance to play with the older members of our club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
